Jacob Bartola Solano died tragically on November 23rd, 2016, leaving family, friends, and Cedar Key School in shock.
Jacob was one of 10 seniors at Cedar Key High School this year and one of only 3 boys in the class of 2017. He first enrolled at CKS as a pre-K student. To help the tight-knit class cope with the sudden loss of a classmate, a crisis team met with the students Monday morning, on the first day back to school since Jacob’s accident. The students talked, wrote down their feelings and memories, and created posters for the Solano family.
Jacob always radiated the halls with his contagious smile and laughter, touching the hearts of every student he came across. His absence will be greatly missed, which was shown Monday at school with banners made by high school students.
Jacob may be gone, but he’ll never be forgotten.
All four basketball teams played great games the 28th of November. It was the first two games for middle school teams and also a first for the Varisty Boys. Both middle school teams came just short of a win. Way to go Sharks!
Congrats to the Varsity Girls Basketball team for their win against Taylor County before Thanksgiving Break!
This is a notification that the yearly Flu Mist program will not be offered at school this year. The vaccine remains safe, however, the
Center for Disease Control notes stronger protection from the flu using the injection. This will be in effect until the Flu Mist is revised.
Please make sure your student still gets their flu shot at their doctor, health department or contact you school nurse for more information.
